medcom.id, Medan: The archaeology team from France and Medan Archaeology Agency found three human skeletons at the China Town Site of Paya Pasir Sub-District, Medan Marelan, Medan, North Sumatra, Friday, March 18.

The fossil, estimated to be from the 12th century, have caused quite a surprise for the locals. These residents were surprised, thinking that the three skeletons are murder victims, as the hands were in tied position when found. The location, which has become the China Town Site, was known as a trading port.

The presence of the site was revealed in 1970, following the discovery of ancient statue, fragments of vases, as well as the currencies from the Yuan, Sung and Ming Dynasties. It is estimated that there are still lots of items buried there.

The 12th century is when Sung Dynasty reached its peak of power. The China Town Site is one of the trails of Sung Dynasty's reign. This northern part of Medan City is settled by Chinese immigrants. During its heyday, the area was the busiest trading line.

During their time there, the French archaeology team dug 14 holes in a month to find undiscovered history. One of the important findings is the three human skeletons found in the 25 centimeter deep, 40 centimeter and a meter.

"To ensure it is a human skeleton from the past, we take it to Bhayangkara Hospital," said a researcher from Medan Archaeology Agency, Wahyu Utomo, Saturday (3/19/2016).

The French archaeology team is currently still digging the site. More in depth research on the finding of the human skeletons will be conducted following the completed excavation.

"From the DNA test, we will know the race or tribes these skeletons are from," said Wahyu.
