medcom.id, Jakarta: Former Minister of Trade on President Susilo Bambang Yudhyono's (SBY) era, Muhamad Lutfi, and businessman Arifin Panigoro met with President Joko Widodo. Both did not elaborate any details and denied they have been offered ministerial positions.
"No. No, Thursday, it will be on Thursday," said Lutfi at the Presidential Palace Complex, Monday (3/28/2016).
Both also stayed silent when asked what is going to happen on Thursday, March 31. Lutfi denied the question on whether there will be a ministerial inauguration on Thursday this week. "Later. There is no inauguration," he said.
Lutfi and Arifin stated they have only discussed trade and medco with Jokowi. According to them, the discussion was not yet completed as they will return next Thursday.
Previously, the special staff of the president on communication, Johan Budi S.P. mentioned that the president will evaluate his ministers' performance in the near future. However, the evaluation does not mean it will end in a reshuffle. "I have no capabilities to answer (reshuffle) but there are evaluations," said Johan, Sunday, March 20.
The evaluation, Johan explained, is to measure the performance of the Working Cabinet ministers. Johan stated that the evaluations will not be only on a period and time, but it will be on what the ministers have been working on during their position.
A political observer, M. Qodari, assessed that President Jokowi somehow is enjoying the squabbles within his cabinet. The debates, which should have been internal consumption of the cabinet, has leaked on the surface.
The squabbles are seen as Jokowi's tricks under his leadership. He is not a political party leader of a certain party, meaning his political power is not as great as his predecessor.
Jokowi is like a chess player. He moves his pawns to beat his opponents with a detour, not in a straight line to create fast checkmate.
The detour is the impression of how Jokowi seems to be slow in stopping the internal 'chaos'. The most recent debate on the public corner is between the Coordinating Minister of Maritime and Resources, Rizal Ramli, and the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Sudirman Said, on the scheme of Masela Block developments in Maluku.
"Reaching the goal is not always with a straight line. Becoming a president in Indonesia is probably more complicated than in the United States," Qodari mentioned in a polemic discussion in Warung Daun, Cikini, Central Jakarta, Saturday, March 5.
