medcom.id, Jakarta: President Joko Widodo took a stance on the riot in Karugaba, Tolikara Regency. The president had instructed three point to handle the incident which occurred on Friday, July 17.
First, the president affirmed law enforcement on the incident. Secondly, Jokowi urged the reconstruction of damaged facilities, such as kiosks and mosque, in a short amount of time.
"Third, president is to conduct a dialog with public figures in Papua, to jointly suppress, calm the situation there, as well as nationally," said the Presidential Communication Team member Teten Masduki at the State Palace, Jalan Veteran, Jakarta, Wednesday (7/22/2015).
These instructions were delivered directly by the president to Head of National Intelligence Agency (BIN) Sutiyoso, Coordinating Minister of Politics, Law and Security Tedjo Edhy Purdijatno, Minister of Interior Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo, Military Chief Gatot Nurmantyo and Police Chief Badrodin Haiti.
At the same location, Minister of Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim Saifuddin explained that within the near future, the President will also hold a meeting with public figures and religious leaders to suppress issues related to ethnicity, religion, racial and inter-social groups (SARA).
"The President soon will invite public figures and religious leaders, religious organizations, inter religion figures," Lukman stated. (EPS)
