medcom.id, Jakarta: Indonesia has banned communism since 1960s following the September 30 Movement. However, many people in Indonesia still fear the ideology.

The police recently confiscated communist t-shirts from a clothing store in South Jakarta. Almost at the same time, pictures of Indonesians wearing communist t-shirts spread in social media. It triggers debate about the emergence of communism in the country.

Separately, the Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), Zulkifli Hasan urged public not to be reactive. Zulkifli revealed he once met a young man wearing communist t-shirt.

"When I asked him, he answered he did not know the meaning of the symbol. He wore it for style," he explained.

Zulkifli argued the story shows there are many reasons why people wear  communist symbols. However, he agreed that authority should takes action against people who distribute it for political purpose.

"It is different. It should be handled seriously, as it is against Pancasila," concluded Zulkifli.
