Garuda Cancelled 112 Flights

medcom.id, Jakarta: PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk Airlines cancelled 112 flights due to the eruption of Mt. Raung (3,332 meters above sea level), East Java. The reason was that the volcanic ash from Mt. Raung may be dangerous for the plane's engines.
 
"The cancellation of hundreds of flights referred to the notice to airman No. A1415/15, B1073/15, C0498/15 'AD CLSD DUE TO RAUNG MT.ACT' published by the Briefing Office of the Transportation Ministry at 08.25AM local time (WIB)," stated the Corporate Communication Acting Vice President of Garuda Indonesia M lkhsan Rosan, Friday (7/10/2015).
 
He stated the note was about the extension of closure time of Ngurah Rai Airport, Denpasar, and Lombok Int'l Airport until 21.30WITA. Mt. Raung's eruption also affected the operational of Blimbingsari Airport in Banyuwangi, East Java.

"Even the Notohadinegoro Airport in Jember was also shut down and all flights from-and-to the following airports have been cancelled," he stated.
 
Garuda Indonesia's flights affected in the domestic routes among others are 27 flights of Denpasar-Jakarta, Denpasar-Surabaya 11 flights, dan Denpasar-Yogyakarta 6 flights.
 
Then, Denpasar-Timika 2 flights, Denpasar-Labuan Bajo 4 flights, Denpasar-Kupang 2 flights, Denpasar-Makassar 4 flights, as well as Denpasar-Dili 2 flights.
 
"Moreover, the cancellation of flights on these routes are: Denpasar-Banyuwangi two flights, Denpasar-Bandung two flights, Denpasar-Palembang two flights, dan Denpasar-Manado two flights. Additionally, Denpasar-Semarang two flights, Denpasar-Tambolaka two flights," he said.
 
Other routes affected are two flights of Jember-Surabaya, Lombok-Sumbawa two flights, Lombok-Surabaya two flights. Moreover, Lombok-Jakarta eight flights, along with two flights on each of these destinations: Lombok-Denpasar, Lombok-Bimantoro, Lombok-Makassar and Lombok-Surabaya.
 
"For international route, the cancelled flights are as follows: two flights of each respective routes on Denpasar-Melbourne, Denpasar-Sydney, Denpasar-Perth, Denpasar-Narita and Denpasar-Kansai. And then, Denpasar-Seoul two flights, Denpasar-Hong Kong two flights, Denpasar-Singapura four flights," he added.
 
With the following situation, Garuda Indonesia has applied fee waiver policy. It is continued by the ticket change fee for all passengers with the flight schedule from-and-to the four cities.
 
"For the time being, Garuda Indonesia does not accept the booking of the mentioned routes for Saturday, June 11. Nevertheless, we are observing the situation and developments related to the activity of Mt. Raung. Especially the readiness of each airport to provide flight operations," he said.
 
Garuda Indonesia flights from-and-to the four airports will be served as the infrastructure is declared reopened by the authority.
 
"We suggest the passengers going to the closed airports to conduct changes on ticket reservations through Garuda Indonesia's 24 hour call center at 021-2351 9999 and 0804 1 807 807," he concluded. (EPS)
