medcom.id, Jakarta: Coordinating Minister of Politics, Law and Security Affairs Luhut Panjaitan mentioned that President Joko Widodo's visit to Natuna Islands was a signal from the Indonesian government.
Several ministers and high-ranking officials accompanied Jokowi during the visit. They conducted cabinet meeting on board the KRI Imam Bonjol.
"We send signal. President also never comes here," said Luhut after the meeting, on Thursday (6/23/2016).
Jokowi visited Natuna Islands following the seizure of Chinese fishing boat by KRI Imam Bonjol in Natuna waters last week.
"We also want to see our military here. We still have good relations with China and other countries," Luhut continued.
During the meeting, Jokowi instructred his ministers to develop the region. The government plans to place fishermen from Java to the islands.
"President has idea to move 6,000 fishermen from Java," the retired general stated.
