medcom.id, Jakarta: The police predict about 150,000 people will gather at the National Monument during the December 2 rally.
"About 150,000 people," said National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar in Jakarta on Monday (11/28).
The police will deploy 22 thousand personnel to guard the rally. They will also deploy personnel to protect important locations.
Previously, several Muslim organizations agreed to conduct the December 2 Rally at the National Monument.
"They will perform dhikr and Friday prayer," said National Police chief Gen. Tito Karnavian.
The Muslim conservatives staged a massive protest on November 4. They urged the police to charge Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama with blasphemy.
They initially planned a follow up rally on November 25. However, they then postponed the rally to December 2.
