PSSI to Introspect as FIFA Officials Arrested

medcom.id, Jakarta: Several Officials from the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) were arrested by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as they were allegedly involved in corruption. As an effort to improve Indonesian football condition, the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) is urged to reflect on the case, as conveyed by a football observer Budiarto Shambazy.

"I think this is the time for PSSI to introspect themselves, whether the disease is present within the organization. Not about bribery or score arrangements, but on the financial condition of PSSI, PT LIGA, or participating clubs. Are their financial conditions good?" Budiarto said.

"Because there is the FIFA arrest momentum, as this could happen in PSSI," he continued.

Nevertheless, Budiarto assessed that the FIFA case is completely different than PSSI. If FIFA is involved in black money, PSSI is involved in the case known as score arrangements and bribery.

"What really happens to FIFA and PSSI is different. In PSSI, they were allegedly involved in bribery and match set ups," Budiarto explained.

"The situation experienced by FIFA is different. That's not what happened. There are 47 lawsuits against FIFA, where the three biggest cases are extortion, money laundering and illegal transfers," he elaborated. (EPS)
