medcom.id, Jakarta: Ministry of Health is to test the substances within the super tobacco 'Gorilla'. If proven that there are dangerous chemical components, the ministry will put the tobacco in the category of psychotropic.
"I just knew. We think it is (distributed) still in abroad. We see the components, whether it's a regular tobacco or does it have extra substances," said the Secretary General of Health Ministry, Untung Suseno Sutarjo to Metrotvnews.com, Monday (10/12/2015).
He mentioned that the determination of whether a consumable product is dangerous or not takes a long procedure. Nevertheless, he is certain that the testing of Gorilla tobacco may be conducted as soon as possible.
"At the time, we also examine electric cigarettes, then we state them as dangerous. We will cooperate with the Drugs and Food Supervisory Board (BPOM). Hopefully (to be tested) soon," he mentioned.
National Narcotics Agency (BNN) confirmed that the Gorilla tobacco has a dangerous chemical substance named AB-CHMINACA. It may cause a hallucinative effect like those in marijuana.
The substance may cause addiction and lowers the brain function, as also possessing the cannabinoid character, or hallucinogen.
Aside from causing addiction, the user of Gorilla tobacco will also affected by the weakening of brain performance, laziness to move, prefers to sleep, as well as losing appetite.
