medcom.id, Jakarta: Vice President Jusuf Kalla was caught in camera as 'not saluting' the Indonesian flag in the 70th Indonesian Independence Day Ceremony at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.
Even though it was only a prompt appearance, JK had been bullied since by netizens in the virtual world, as tweeted by@ayurizkiyani07, 'Why JK did not salute during the flag hoisting? A Vice President should have nationalism and respect to his own country'.
Similar tweet was brought up by @husni_tan, as saying 'During the National Flag Hoisting, @Pak_JK did not salute, what's wrong with his right hands?'
Aside from bullying, there were lots of netizens insinuating JK as revealed by @Herlan_Riyanto, 'Why does @Pak_JK did not salute the flag. Forgetting due to old age or simply did not want to respect the nation'.

'JK did not salute when the flag was being hoisted. Positive thinking, he might have done it on purpose, maybe sleepy, maybe purposely sleepy.' Tweeted @rizkilahyusuf.
However, JK did not violate any regulations. His action was conducted by Vice President Mohammad Hatta when accompanying President Soekarno.
Based on the Government Regulation No. 40 Year 1958, on the National Flag of the Republic of Indonesia, Article 20, during the ceremony of hoisting or lowering the flag, all attending must salute by standing firm, silent, and facing the flag until the ceremony is finished.
Those who were uniformed from an organization salutes with manners appointed by their organization. But for those not uniformed, simply salute by straightening the arms downward and fisting closely to their thighs, as all form of head covers should be opened, except for kopiah, headbands, turbans and veils, or female-hats worn according to their religion or culture.
