medcom.id, Jakarta: Taman Safari Indonesia will receive two giant pandas from China Wildlife Conservation Association in the end of September 2017.
The two giant pandas will be transported from Chengdu, China on September 28. They will be quarantined in Bogor, West Java shortly afterwaard.
"The travel duration will be only six hours and 50 minutes. The arrival time will be at around 8.50 AM," PT Garuda Indonesia President Director Sigit Muhartono at the Indonesian environment and Forestry Ministry headquarter on Friday.
The two giant pandas will be loaned to the Indonesian conservation agency for 10 years. They will be introduced to the Indonesian public in the near future.
The two giant pandas are named Cai Tao and Hu Chun. Both giant pandas are seven years old.
Cao Tun is a 128-kg male giant panda. Hu Chun is a 113-kg female giant panda.
The Indonesian and Chinese governments have planned the conservation cooperation since 2010. The two governments have signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) since last year.
