medcom.id, Jakarta: Ministry of Marine and Fishery plans to sink at least 57 illegal fishing boats this year. 12 boats are ready to be sunk this month.
"Maybe it will be sunk in the middle of the month," explained the ministry's director general of marine and fishery resources protection (PSDKP) Asep Burhanudin in his office, Jakarta, Wednesday (1/6/2015).
From October 2014 until December 2015, PSDKP has sunk 121 illegal fishing boats.
"There are 121 boats, 39 boats from Vietnam, 36 boats from the Philippines, 21 boats from Thailand, 12 boats from Papua New Guinea, one boat from China and 10 boats from Indonesia," said Asep.
