medcom.id, Jakarta: The electric energy consumption in Indonesia is still considered wasteful. As a solution, the government is committed to energy conservation programs directed to young generation.
"Energy conservation is something that should be teached as soon as possible," said the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources' head of sub-directorate for energy conservation cooperation and technical guidance Arief Heru Kuncoro, as quoted from the ESDM Ministry webpage, Sunday (5/1/2016).
Arief explained energy is a strategic commodity Indonesia has various sources of energy including fossil energy and renewable energy.
"Electricity support all activities like education, communication, transportation and health services. Therefore, the government must provide sufficient electricity for its people," he continued.
The study conducted by the ministry shows that energy conservation programs could make electric energy consumption 35 percent more efficient.
"Therefore, public awareness must be develop since the early age," concluded Arief.
