Tabanan: Nine Kecak dancers from the Yeh Gangga Traditional Village, Tabanan Regency, Bali, drew the community’s attention to the covid-19 preventive measures to alleviate public anxiety and innovatively raise awareness during this pandemic, an official stated.

"It is expected to reduce the mental strain on people owing to the pandemic, and they might, in fact, be entertained in the process. It is also part of our cultural preservation endeavors to keep the tradition of the Kecak dance form alive in the hearts of the people," I Ketut Dolia, Yeh Gangga's head, stated here on Monday, May 18, 2020.

Satgas Gotong Royong, the covid-19 handling task force in traditional village, in Yeh Gangga intentionally disseminated information on the disease through the Balinese cultural act as "the dancers currently working in the task force were keen on delivering the dance performance."

Virdaus Octavia, a village member, has lauded this creative method to raise awareness among people.

"This is so lovely, but I think they should also highlight the social distancing measure," she noted.

Tabanan Regency ranked ninth on the list of areas most affected by covid-19 across Bali Province, district secretary I Gede Susila had confirmed on Sunday, May 17, 2020.

Susila has appealed to the people to remain vigilant in the event of cases still surfacing of some individuals having contracted the virus as well as ongoing local transmission. (antara)
