Jakarta: Festival Sinema Australia Indonesia (FSAI) 2020, now in its fifth year, will be held in Jakarta, Surabaya, Makassar, Bandung, Mataram and Yogyakarta.
FSAI 2020 is presented by Australia Connect, an exciting program of events in Indonesia in 2019 and 2020 showcasing Australia’s thriving creative sectors through music, film, food and art.
“Film provides a window into other cultures and our selection of Australian and Indonesian films by Australian alumni gives an insight into the creativity and diversity of both our countries,” Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Gary Quinlan said in a press release issued on Thursday, February 13, 2020.
As well as bringing a diverse range of films to Indonesian audiences, FSAI offers opportunities for film students and emerging filmmakers to learn from Australian filmmakers and alumni.
Imogen Thomas, writer and director of the Indigenous family drama Emu Runner, will deliver master classes and audience Q&As in Jakarta and Mataram with the support of the festival’s partner Qantas.
Simon Wilmot, senior lecturer in film from Deakin University, will also deliver master classes to young filmmakers in Surabaya and Yogyakarta.
Wilmot will also join Sahabat FSAI 2020 and Australian alumni Daniel Mananta to present a master class on kick-starting your career in the film industry to aspiring filmmakers in Jakarta.
