“Why do babies need to be breastfed every 2 hours? Because the human stomach is empty every 2 hours," said dr. Meutia Ayuputeri, IBCLC, CIMI, MRes from Pondok Indah Hospital – Bintaro Jaya, in a Webinar: A – Z Success of Breastfeeding Mother.
Moreover, according to dr. Meutia, adults would also feel hungry 2 hours after eating.
"So the rule is because they would be hungry by then. In this period, it is also important to recognize signs that babies are thirsty," said dr. Meutia.
If a baby is thirsty, the baby’s head usually would turn around.
In addition, the baby usually would show , such as trying to put their hand into their mouth.
"If they are still ignored, they would cry from hunger. By recognizing the signs of a thirsty baby, they could also be breastfed directly. This is called breastfeeding on demand," said dr.
