Jakarta: MNC Pictures official Toha Essa said Mahasiswi Baru is based on a true story. The movie tells a story of an elderly woman who studies at a university.
“Actually, it does not only tell us about college life, but it is also inspired by a true story," said Toha Essa in Jakarta.
"It is about an elderly woman who decides to study at a university. It is about her college life from the behinning until her graduation," Toha added.
On that movie, Widyawati will act as the main protagonist named Lastri. In her campus, Lastri forms a gang which always make troubles.
“When they [MNC] offered me to be Lastri, I think it is interesting thing. Firstly, the story
tells us that age is not a problem. In addition, I can have a group with younger generation as well,” said Widyawati.
Mahasiswi Baru will come to theatres on August 8. The film's premiere has been held few days ago.
Besides Widyawati, the main cast of the movie are Morgan Oey, Mikha Tambayaong, Sonia Alyssa, and Umay Shahab. (Translator: Rifqi Akbar)
