Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially inaugurated TVRI West Papua on Wednesday. It is TVRI's 30th regional public television station.
"This inauguration confirms our commitment to maintain unity and equitable access to information," said Jokowi during a virtual press conference commemorating Youth Pledge Day here on Wednesday.
According to President, the station will provide information to people in West Papua Province. Thus, they can strengthen connectivity with other parts of Indonesia.
"This infrastructure facilitates inter-regional and inter-island connectivity in Indonesia," he said.
"By implementing equal and fair development, the people of Papua, the people of Aceh, and the people of Indonesia in various regions feel they are part of Indonesia and feel they belong to Indonesia," said Jokowi.
TVRI is a public television network and the oldest television network in Indonesia. TVRI currently broadcasts throughout the country with both analog and digital means of broadcast.
