Jakarta: The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has encouraged creative economy professionals to take the opportunity to monetize their intellectual property (IP).
According to the Acting Deputy of Digital Economy and Creative Products for the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Josua Simanjuntak on his statement on Monday, April 27, 2020, the government is developing the programs that involving IP owners so that the IP may transform into products that can be absorbed by the market.
“The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will provide facilitation so that the IP can be created into works,” Josua said.
According to him, in this crisis situation caused by current outbreak of the covid-19, it is important for the creative economy professionals to be able to survive economically so that they can continue producing works and help others.
“Currently, there are many colleagues who are optimizing their IP from the digital side, it can be a format or opportunity to stay productive. We will help them so that they can focus and monetize the IP,” Josua said.
“How can the certificate of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) become the capital solution. We are working hard to make the banking sector understand IP as fiduciary so that it has economic value,” he said.
He further assessed that there should be regulations related to IP-based marketing in the future so that the economy creative professionals in marketing their works are not only in the form of products but also based on IP.
“It becomes our homework. The real target is in 2020 but seeing the current situation, it is expected that it can finish in 2021,” he continued.
