Jakarta: Miles Films has officially announced that the sequel to the popular musical movie Petualangan Sherina (Sherina's Adventure) will be released next year.
Titled Petualangan Sherina 2, Riri Riza and Mira Lesmana were announced as the movie's director and producer, respectively.
In addition, Sherina Munaf and Derby Romero will reprise their role as Sherina and Sadam, the leading characters in the movie.
"I and Sherina once talked about the plan to reboot Petualangan Sherina. She then urged us to make a sequel. She said that she and Derby are willing to join," said Mira during a virtual press conference here on Friday.
"After that, we wrote Petualangan Sherina 2. We initially planned to start the shooting in April and release the movie in the end of this year. We decided to postpone it due to the pandemic," Mira explained.
Besides Petualangan Sherina 2, Miles Films also plans to release the animation version of Petualangan Sherina.
