Jakarta: Endek Bali, the traditional cloth of the Balinese people in Indonesia, is Christian Dior's main material for the Spring/Summer 2021 collection.
On Tuesday, Indonesian Ambassador to France Arrmanatha Nasir attended the Christian Dior Fashion Show which is part of Paris Fashion Week that will take place from September 28 to October 6.
"The use of Endek Bali for the Spring / Summer 2021 collection by Christian Dior is a recognition of the beauty and quality of Endek Bali and contributes positively to the international fashion world," said the Indonesian Ambassador in a press release on Wednesday.
"Hopefully, this will help encourage people in Bali amid the challenges of covid-19," he said.
Christian Dior expressed its appreciation to the Indonesian government's support for the use of Endek Bali as part of its latest collection.
The coordination and cooperation between the Indonesian Embassy in Paris and Christian Dior were carried out closely to ensure that the use of Endek Bali is in accordance with the rules of Balinese culture and customs.
"We give our high appreciation for the support and quouck action of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Economic Recovery Acceleration Team as well as the Governor of Bali and his team," said the Indonesian Ambassador.
Due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic, this year's Paris Fashion Week is held on a more limited scale.
