medcom.id, Tegal: People usually avoid bees as they are afraid of being stung. However, in Tegal, Central Java, bees are used for facial treatment.
A beauty parlor called Rumah Lebah (House of Bee) offers bee mask treatment. There are no chemicals or modern equipments in this small salon, only wooden boxes full of bees.
Tejo Asmoro, a bee keeper, explained that the treatment is quite simple. First, customer's face is cleaned and smeared with honey. Afterwards, the bees are released. Almost immediately, the face will be flocked by the bees.
"Before we start, it is better to pray so the bees will not sting," mentioned the 40-year old man when met by Metrotvnews.com.
The bees will stay in the customer's face for 30 minutes."The pure honey will pluck the dirts and dead skin cells, while the bees will eat the honey," added Tejo.
Although it sounds scary, the treatment receive good response.
Fennika, a returning customer of the salon, admitted that the honey and bee mask makes her face tight and soft. Moreover, she also feels that the wrinkles on her face has lessen.
The mask treatment is quite cheap with Rp75,000 for one time treatment.
