medcom.id, Jakarta: Indonesian culture has been continuously introduced in foreign countries including the United Kingdom (UK). Three Indonesian art groups recently performed in the Queen Elizabeth's country.

The British Council Indonesia, Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Education and Culture, through the "Discover Indonesia" program, have facilitated the performances comprising of the Papermoon Puppet Theatre from Yogyakarta, musical group Kande from Aceh and Soerya Soemirat traditional dance school from Surakarta. They appeared in four prestigious stages in UK from August to September.

According to the Director of British Council Indonesia, Sally Goggin, the program  was intended to introduce Indonesian culture. She mentioned the Brits have not been familiar with Indonesia.

"UK should know Indonesia and Indonesia should know UK," mentioned Goggin in British Council Indonesia's Office, Jakarta, Thursday (12/17/2015).

Dally explained that "Discover Indonesia" is a proof that young talents from the two countries can cooperate to make great performances.

The Discover Indonesia program was started by British Council in 2013. At the time, it brought Britain's artists to perform in Indonesia Performing Art Market (IPAM).

"We are interested to see  more collaborations and cultural exchanges between the two nations in terms of art and creative industry in the future, while the 'Discover Indonesia' is a great beginning. We will continue to open the opportunities to develop the cultural relationship of both countries," mentioned the Director of Art and Creative Industry of British Council Indonesia, Adam Pushkin.
