medcom.id, Jakarta: The Sidhartas, a music group comprising of Bimbim, Masto, Awa Sandiogi and Firas Rachun, released a self-titled debut album.
It is a band created by blood, as the personnel are all related. Bimbim, drummer of Slank, is the brother of Masto, while Awa and Firas is the nephews of Bimbim and Masto. The Sidhartas was taken from Sidharta Manghurudin Soemarno, the father of Bimbim and Masto.
The album launching was also coinciding with their father's 80th birthday.
"The album is the 80th birthday present to our father, grandfather. We are happy. We first went on stage on Bunda Iffet's birthday in Kemang, and the album release was at Mr Sidharta's birthday. We made this band to become more intense in connecting family members, it's a lucky-go-happy thing," mentioned Bimbim in a press conference in, South Jakarta, Monday (1/18/2016).
The album is comprised of 12 songs, including their previous released singles through YouTube, among others Punk! and Laki-Laki Paling Tampan Sedunia (The Most Handsome Guy in the World).
If Bimbim play rock with Slank and Masto plays electronic-pop with his band, Popout, the brothers explore new genre in the Sidhartas.
"For genre, we has had the intention to sound punk. When we rehearse to make the song, it's punk. Well, when we play on stage, many said its grunge. But, we stay with punk. Let others judge," said the bassist, Firas.
"We will still carry the spirit of having fun with family. It is just for kicks, but we are still serious in producing the next album," added Bimbim.
