medcom.id, Jakarta: Rotator lamps and sirens installments on private vehicles are still common for some Indonesian public.
The abuse of use on private cars may cause other drivers to be confused, whereas the rotator and sirens have their own purposes, as regulated on the Law No. 22 Year 2009 on Traffic and Road Transportation.
According to First Police Inspector Adjutant Wahyu, the Operational Instructor of Escort Detachment of the Indonesian Police Traffic Patrol, there are three rotator lamp colors allowed to be used, red for the ambulance and firefighters, yellow for transportation vehicles and blue for police cars.
"Vehicles allowed to use rotators are ambulance, firefighters and police, aside from that, they have no right," affirmed Wahyu.
Disciplinary actions have been conducted by the police to rotator lamps user, starting from giving out instructions to firm action of giving out a ticket.
Unfortunately, the disciplinary actions conducted by the police would be useless if it is not supported by the conscience of all parts of public.
"Many who have installed rotators to personal vehicles are from the police and military families, which provided indirect examples to other drivers," Wahyu concluded.
