H&M to Launch Batik Collection

medcom.id, Jakarta: Sweden retail clothing company H&M will collaborate with Indonesian designers to launch batik collection.
 
"H&M and Indonesian designer will build new ecosystem, one of them is batik," explained Minister of Trade Thomas Lembong during visit by H&M representative at Presidential Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (2/24/2016).
 
Lembong mentioned H&M also plans to increase its production capacity here which is intended for domestic and overseas markets.
 
Indonesian textile export is at around USD13 billion. There are 2.7 million workers in the industry.
 
H&M has been present in Indonesia since 1996, with 98 percent of production for overseas market.
 
"We are very enthusiastic to conduct the partnership," he concluded.
 
H&M representative, Helena Helmerson, appreciated support of the government on fashion industry. H&M, currently owns 10 outlets in Indonesia and plans to add more.
 
"The President is supportive and we will expand our business by adding more outlets," she mentioned.
