medcom.id, Jakarta: Fasting in the month of Ramadan is considered to be important to Muslims. How is the best way to train your children fasting?
"Before training your children, there are several things that need to be taken into consideration, especially their physical condition," said psychologist from University of Indonesia Vera Itabiliana Hadiwidjojo in a health discussion here recently.
Parents must ensure their children are in good physical condition. It is better for children to fast for half a day at first.
Vera underlined that parents should not force their children. She advised parents to approach their children persuasively. For example, parents can ask their assistance to prepare suhur (pre-dawn meal) and iftar (evening meal). Therefore, the children can have the intention to fast by themselves.
Vera added the best time for children to learn fasting is when they are around five or six years old.
