medcom.id, Jakarta: Stand-up comics currently dominate Indonesian movies especially in comedy films.
They take various roles. Not only acting, they also take behind the screen roles like scriptwriters and directors.
What made them so special?
"The difference is that they (comics) have lots of knowledge. One of them is scriptwriting. They also have good sense of comedy and acting. They are prepared (in stand up comedy competitions)," said senior Indonesian comedian Indro Warkop, when met by Metrotvnews.com recently.
According to Indro, comics give new colors to the local movie industry. Their acting quality is also commendable.
"Such as Babe Cabita. He also plays in Garin Nugroho's moview. It means that his acting skill is great," explained Indro.
Indro currently is preparing comedy film titled Warkop reborn. He also gathered several comics to develop the script.
Aside from personal quality, the comics - dominated by young generation - are technology savvy.

The comedy films led by comics are always commercially successful. One of the films is the Comic 8 which attracted more than a million viewers.
Furthermore, popular comic Ernest Prakasa's debut as a director titled Ngenest watched by half a million people.
