medcom.id, Jakarta: Following several public complaints, Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) prohibits effeminate male in television shows.
The prohibition issued by KPI in its official website. The agency forbids male artists acting like female and wearing female's clothes.
Male artists are not allowed to mimic females's gestures including the way of walking, sitting and moving hands.
"Prohibition of justification or promotion of a man to behave like woman," wrote KPI in its website.
KPI argues the behaviors violate norms and values in the society. The prohibition is issued to protect children and teenagers.
"Such content may urge children to learn or justify the indecent behaviors as normal in their daily life," continued KPI.
"We will maintain intensive observations on all broadcasting agencies. Sanctions will be imposed should the broadcasting institution is proven airing such behaviors," the agency underlined.
