The statement was delivered by Prof L.A Lesmana Ph. D, Sp.PD, KGEH, FACP, FACG, FINASIM in a talk show themed "Cancer Stalks the Urban People", in MRCCC Siloam Hospital Semanggi, Jakarta, Monday (12/7/2015).
A medical check up data from Medistra Hospital in 2013 shows that 56 percent of the 1,054 patients have shown liver fattening accompanied by hypertension and fat level increase.
Data also shows that 33 percent of the heart cancer patients are not caused by hepatitis B or C virus, but by fatty liver.
Fatty liver, accompanied by inflammation may cause liver hardening, which may cause liver cancer or failure within five to seven years.
"Fatty liver does not have any detailed symptoms. Usually it attacks the obese people. Overwhelmed feeling is the usual complaint for the disease," he mentioned.
As a form of prevention and cure, fatty liver can be avoided by conducting low fat and carbohydrate diet, as well as regular sports of 30 minutes as many as five times a week.
The increase of daily activities are also recommended. Don't just sit around all day.
