medcom.id, Jakarta: The works of Pramoedya Ananta Toer is going to be adapted for theatre by Titimangsa Foundation and Titian Penerus Bangsa Foundation.
The theatre, titled Bunga Penutup Abad (Flower of the Close of Century), is scheduled to be performed on August 25-26 at the Jakarta Art Building.
It adapts two Pramoedya's novels, Bumi Manusia (This Earth of Mankind) and Anak Semua Bangsa (Child of All Nations).
"I have read Bumi Manusia hundreds of times. When I read Anak Semua Bangsa, I found the title Bunga Penutup Abad," said the director Wawan Sofwan during press conference here, Monday (5/30/2016).
Happy Salma will play Nyai Ontosoroh, the main character in Bumi Manusia. Other famous Indonesian actors such as Lukman Sardi and Reza Rahardian also involve in the project.
"I believe that Pramoedya is irreplaceable," said Happy.
Pramoedya was born in Blora in 1925. He was exiled in Buru Island in the aftermath of 1965 tragedy. He passed away on April 30, 2006 in Jakarta.
