Caution, Do Not Use Mineral Water on Car Radiator

medcom.id, Jakarta: Radiators have a vital role as the vehicle's cooling system, therefore do not take for granted this particular component if you do not want your engine to be overheat.

The correct checking and water filling of the radiator may prolong the age of the radiator, as well as other components connected with the cooling functions (water pump, thermostat).

But do you know that the use of mineral water may damage your radiator? The cause is that the mineral water, if heated on the 80-90 degrees Celsius will create a crust and settles within the machine, which may cause rust, up to the clogging of the radiator.

If so, the performance of the radiator is surely not optimum as it will disrupt the cooling function of the engine. "Mineral water is good for the human body, but not for the car radiator, as the water if heated at certain temperature may cause crust and ignited rust," said Arief Gunadibrata, the President and CEO of PT Topindo Atlas Asia.

"Good water for radiators are those produced through the process of condensation/sublimation, such as water from the AC drips. The process was also conducted to manufacture radiator products," he added.

Starting from now, pay attention to the water usage in filling your radiator. Use clean and non-mineral water, as you should change your radiator water regularly, at a minimum of six months or after 40,000 kilometers.
