medcom.id, Jakarta: The TV series produced by director Joko Anwar, titled 'Halfworlds' has been completed and will be aired soon. The series is taken from the Indonesian horror legend, which is "Demit" or evil spirits (demons).
Various kind of demons are brought up in the series, starting from Genderuwo, Kuntilanak, Banaspati and Palasik. The unique part is that the spirits are humanized to look similarly as human beings.
"The spirits in the movie are humanized to look like humans, as the concept also connects. If they fight using white cloths, it's not funny," said Joko Anwar in the press conference in SCBD area, Jakarta, Thursday November 19.
The idea for the spirit story in this series is considered as not confusing to the other audience abroad. Several other countries also have the legends of similar horror creatures, but with a different name.
There are lots of famous artists starring in the eight-episode series, such as Reza Rahadian, Tara Basro, Ario Bayu, Hannah Al-Rashid and other artists.
"We casted the artists in this series, so we sought the most perfect and talented ones. We didn't choose them for their big names," explained Joko Anwar.
Halfworlds shares a story of the spirits living amongst humans for several generations. The spirits have a human-like form, as their presence is unknown. The secrets of these demons are also kept by a rich family. The spirits are competing to earn the price, named as 'The Gift'.
The series will be aired starting from November 29 across Asia through a paid channel.
