medcom.id, Jakarta: Parkinson's disease is incurable. However, it can be managed so the patients can have normal life.
Besides consuming medicines, exercise is also beneficial for patients. Neurologist from Parkinson's Movement Disorders Center, Frandy Susatia, explained what should Parkinson's patients do when exercising.
1. Always do warm ups and cool downs when exercising.
2. Do exercise for 30 minutes per day.
3. Practice facial and jaw muscle. If possible, by moving your face and chewing.
4. Light swimming will give good effect to joints.
5. Ensure the exercise is conducted in a safe place. Avoid slippery floors, dark rooms and carpet.
6. Choose activities to be conducted routinely such as gardening, walking, yoga or Taichi.
