medcom.id, Jakarta: Using hand sanitizer is practical way to clean your hands. However, is it more effective than washing hands with soap and water?

"The alcohol in the hand sanitizer can kill germs. However, soap is better," said Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) secretary general Dr. M. Adib Khumaidi in Jakarta recently.

He warned frequent use of hand sanitizer may damage your outer skin. Meanwhile, hand washing must be conducted wit flowing water and clean soap.

"For people who have long nails, don't forget to clean the inner side of the nails," he concluded.
