medcom.id, Jakarta: Jazz guitarist Ireng Maulana passed away on Sunday (3/6/2016) due to heart attack.
The news emerged in social media on Monday morning. "Passes away due to heart attack, Indonesian music figure, Irene Maulana," tweeted Java Jazz Festival founder, Peter F Gontha.
Many musicians sent condolence messages through social media. "Thank you Ireng Maulana for your devotion and works for Indonesian Jazz music. Rest in Peace Uncle Ireng,” tweeted singer Glenn Fredly.
Ireng is considered legend in national jazz scene. He was born in Jakarta, June 15, 1944. He studied music in the United States and the Netherlands. He started his career in 1960s.
