Maintenance Tips for Air Suspension

medcom.id, Jakarta: For the latest releases of cars, including luxury cars auch as Lexus, Mercedes S Class and Range Rover, air suspension is usually pre-installed from the factory.

However, there are some cars utilizing after market air suspensions to add the comfort and to make them more fashionable.

Since the addition is quite expensive, it is better for us to understand how to install and maintain this air suspension chamber.

According to Riefki Baskoro, marketing officer from Akasia autoshop, which specifically install air suspensions, body repairs and modifications, at Jalan Marnaputra Atas No 63 Jatibening, Pondok Gede, Bekasi Barat, West Java, any cars may be installed with air suspension. The installment is not affected by the type of the car, but more to the chassis structure and its suspension system.

"Air suspension maintenance is similar to taking care of the tyres, as it is made of rubber, the most important thing is that the air balloon must not be frictioned during installments. Usually the troubles during the process is the tight fender room, which goes unnoticed, making the air balloon stuck at the wheel rims  or other items causing air leaks," deliberated Riefki.

"The component is actually free of maintenance, as it only needs polishing by a tyre polish to make it flexible enough, aside from that when parking for a long time, make sure the wind is taken out with the lowest balloon position, to ensure the balloon condition to last longer. If the maintenance is good, it may last up to 5 or 8 years," he concluded.
