Metrotvnews, Kudus: Al Aqsa Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in Java Island. It incorporates Islamic and Hindu-Buddhist architecture styles.

The mosque is located in Kudus, Central Java. The most unique part of the building is the Hindu-Buddhist style minaret. Therefore, it is also known as Kudus Minaret Mosque..

It was established by Jafar sodik, the founder of Kudus and a member of Wali Songo, in the 16th century. He also built several other buildings in the region.

The influence of Hinduism can also be seen in the local foods. Kudus residents prefer buffalo meat rather than beef. The region is famous for buffalo soto and buffalo satay.
