Bali: Bali Governor I Wayan Koster has decided to prohibit New Year's Eve Celebrations in a bid to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
According to the Bali Governor, the covid-19 infection rate is still high in many regions in Indonesia, including Bali Province.
In addition to prohibiting New Year's Eve parties, the Bali provincial administration also banned the use of fireworks and firecrackers during New Year's Eve.
"All elements of society must maintain their health and safety," said Koster here on Tuesday.
Indonesia's Covid-19 Handling Task Force reported 5,489 new coronavirus cases on Monday, bringing the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country to 623,309.
From Sunday noon until Monday noon, the total number of recovered coronavirus patients across Indonesia was up by 5,121 to 510,957.
In the same period, the country's official covid-19 death toll rose by 137 to 18,956.
