Jakarta: The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and the Ministry of Health have agreed to develop wellness tourism as one of the tourism segments to attract potential high-quality tourists to Indonesia.
At the launch of the Health Tourism Catalog and Wellness Travel Scenarios in Jakarta on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Wishnutama Kusubandio explained that currently the purpose of people traveling varies, and the key to attracting more tourists is by developing certain uniqueness.
"There are so many reasons why people are traveling today, one of which is for health and wellness. Therefore, we have to accommodate this need while offering our own uniqueness, such as traditional treatments that we pack well. Always remember that uniqueness is the key," Wishnutama was quoted in his ministry's press statement released on Thursday, November 21, 2019.
Moreover, he also explained that the collaboration between the two Ministries is a priority target in the work program of the Advanced Indonesian Cabinet in the 2019-2024 period.
Previously, Presidential Regulation No. 14 of 2018 was established in regards to Strategic Coordination in the Sectors of Tourism Administration.
"Therefore, the follow-up and cooperation regarding Wellness Tourism, both for prevention and improvement, can we develop to improve the quality of tourists. It must contain a type of experience that can later be shared, either positive or negative experiences," he was quoted as saying.
