Jakarta: Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno revealed that he was challenged by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to prepare five super priority destinations within one year.
This was conveyed during the handover of the position with Wishnutama Kusubandio. He said Jokowi's first directive was to revive the tourism sector and its derivatives.
"I was given a very short period of one year for him to see the readiness of the super priority destinations, but from 360 degrees," Sandiaga said in Jakarta, Wednesday, December 23, 2020.
He explained the purpose of 360 degrees is the whole aspect of the tourism sphere. Starting from infrastructure, attractions, cultural arts, and services.
In addition, the former Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta also stated that the president asked to prepare small scale events or weekly, then medium or monthly and regional events, as well as world-class spectacular events.
He is willing to do so, he cannot do it alone but must collaborate with various parties, including stakeholders in the tourism sector and the creative economy.
"So it all needs collaboration," he said.
Not only Jokowi, Sandiaga also added that Vice President Ma'ruf Amin also advised him to continue to carry out the covid-19 health protocol in all tourism and creative economy activities.
"The vice president added that he carried out a disciplined health protocol and reminded the creative economy sector to be an advocate and creator of jobs," he said.
Finally, Ma'ruf advised to always innovate in developing tourism and the creative economy.
"In particular developing halal products and presenting activities that monitor economic aspects," he concluded.
Sandiaga was appointed along with five other ministers. They are Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Quomas, and Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini. Then, Minister of Trade M Lutfi and Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin.
