Semarang: President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo will hold a working visit to Semarang, the capital city of Central Java province. He will inaugurate Johar Market.
"The revitalization of Johar Market has been completed. It will be inaugurated by President Joko Widodo," Semarang Mayor Hendrar Prihadi in Semarang, Central Java on Sunday, December 29, 2019.
The inauguration ceremony will take place on Monday, December 30, 2019. Hendrar explained that the revitalization of Johar Market was funded with the State Budget.
"The inauguration of Johar Market will be led by President Joko Widodo because the renovation of the heritage site was funded with the State Budget," Hendrar remakred.
The traditional market was burned down in 2015. The Semarang Government then relocated around 1,500 vendors to the Semarang Great Mosque area.
Besides inaugurating Johar Market, President Jokowi will visit a number of tourist attractions in Semarang. The head of state is interested to visit Semarang's Old Town area.
"President have been informed that Semarang's Old Town are will be visited by many tourists. So, he wants to see the situation," Hendrar concluded.
