Jakarta: During the launching of the Lampung Culture & Tapis Carnival 2019 cultural parade in Saburai Field, Bandar Lampung on Sunday, Tourism Minister Arief Yahya urged the development of Lampung Tourism Special Economic Zone (SEZ) to be finalised by the end of this year.
"The existence of the Tourism SEZ is the fastest way to attract investors in developing the tourism sector in Lampung," the Tourism Ministry's website quoted the minister as saying.
He also explained that Tourism SEZ will ease the authorization process and support the establishment of supporting infrastructure which therefore will draw interest from many investors.
“Mandalika is a good example of how a Tourism SEZ has successfully drawn a total of Rp20 trillion foreign investments,” Arief was quoted as saying.
Among many regencies in the Province of Lampung, the Regency of Pesawaran has proposed a Tourism SEZ to be developed in Pandan Bay, which covers an area of 301 hectares.
"I have already met with the Regent of Pesawaran, Dendi Ramadhona, to encourage the development to be completed by this year," as mentioned by the minister.
