Jakarta: The recently appointed Creative Economy and Tourism Minister, Wishnutama, is believed to be capable of boosting the national tourism industry.
“I think Wishnutama possesses great leadership skills in realizing digital tourism, music tourism, culinary tourism and green tourism as parts of his major plan.” Said Indonesian Tourism Industry Association (GIPI) Vice Chairman, Michael Umbas, on Wednesday, October 23, 2019.
The former Net TV CEO is also expected to boost creative tourism to increase the number of both domestic and foreign tourists by increasing and promoting local culture potentials.
According to Michael, Wishnutama must develop connectivity and access to domestic tourist destinations. He also proposed relevant regulations to be simplified in order to boost development and investment in the national tourism industry.
“Wishnutama must also develop human resources in the tourism industry to be more competitive globally. We believe with his professional experience, he will be able to develop human resources,” said Michael.
The number of foreign tourist arrivals is targeted to reach 20 million under the ministerial leadership of Wishnutama.
“The target will be able to be reached if infrastructure is well developed and also if there is coordinated synergy between regional and central governments and public associations,” said Michael. (Translator: Muhammad Gestinev)
