Jakarta: The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that in 2019 the number of foreign tourist arrivals in Indonesia reached 16.11 million people.
The visit experienced a slight increase of 1.88 percent compared to the same period in 2018 of 15.8 million people. The increase, according to the Head of BPS Suhariyanto, became homework for Indonesia in the future to be able to attract even more foreign tourists.
"So, their spending can have an impact on the Indonesian economy," Suhariyanto said at the BPS office, Central Jakarta on Monday, January 3, 2020.

Suharianto said based on nationality, tourists who arrived during the past year were dominated by Chinese citizens by 2.07 million people. This number decreased compared to the previous year period which reached 2.14 million people.
It was followed by East Timor (1.17 million people), India (657.3 thousand people), Japan (519.6 thousand people), the United States (457.8 thousand people), Britain (397.6 thousand people) and South Korea (388.3 thousand people).
Meanwhile the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia in December 2019 was 1.37 million people. This number increased 7.52 percent compared to November which amounted to 1.28 million people.
"The increase is reasonable, usually every December the number of foreign tourists goes up because of the cold weather there," Suhariyanto said.
