Jakarta: Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Wishnutama Kusubandio strongly believes that the Banyuwangi regency administration is committed to implementing new normal protocols in tourism and creative economy sectors.
On Thursday, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo inspected traditional markets and tourist destinations in Banyuwangi. Besides Wishnutama, the president was also accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, Minister of Health Terawan Agus Putranto, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, National Covid-19 Task Force chief Doni Monardo, East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, and Banyuwangi Regent Abdullah Azwar Anas.
"The readiness of Banyuwangi Regency in implementing health protocols in tourism and creative economy sectors can be an example for other regions," Wishnutama said in a press release on Friday.
"The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will help ensure the implementation of health protocols in Banyuwangi Regency can run well," the minister stated.
According to the Ministry, Banyuwangi regency has currently entered the education and socialization phase. To prepare the implementation of health protocols in tourism and creative economy sectors, the regency has formulated a wide range of programs, including certification and health protocol competency test for tour guides. In addition, it will also utilize technology during the new normal phase where tourists will have to order tickets online.
This new normal socialization and education phase will take place from June to August 2020.
