Jakarta: The Government through the Minister of Health Decree (KMK) has officially ratified the health protocol in the tourism and creative economy sector prepared by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy together with stakeholders and related ministries.
The health protocol in the tourism and creative economy sector is ratified through KMK Number HK.01.08/Menkes/382/2020 concerning Health Protocol for Communities in Public Places and Facilities in the Context of Prevention and Control of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (covid-19).
The Deputy of Strategic Policy for the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Agency R. Kurleni Ukar in a statement on Monday said that health protocol in the tourism and creative economy sector was compiled based on three main issues.
“Namely cleanliness, health, and safety,” Kurleni Ukar said.
The KMK regulates protocols for hotels/inns/homestays/hostels etc., restaurants etc., tourist attraction locations, modes of transportation, creative economy services, event/meeting organizing services, as well as other public places and facilities that are closely related with the tourism sector. Furthermore, the protocol can be used as a reference for all parties, namely ministries/institutions, provincial regional governments, regency/city governments, and the community. Including associations, managers, owners, workers and visitors in public places and facilities.
The presence of this health protocol is expected to support the plan to open a tourism and creative economy business gradually so that it can revive sector, which is heavily affected by the covid-19. However, decisions related to the re-opening of the tourism business must certainly be adjusted with the level of risk of the spread of covid-19 and the ability of the regions in controlling the virus.
“Regional government and tourism and creative economy business players are expected to be able to prepare and implement health protocol in accordance with the decree signed by the Minister of Health,” she said.
The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Wishnutama Kusubandio appreciated the adoption of health protocol in the tourism and creative economy sector listed in the KMK on Health Protocol for Communities in Public Places and Facilities in the Context of Prevention and Control of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (covid-19).
The ratification is done through a single-door by the Minister of Health so that the protocol is harmonized with other ministries and agencies.
“Health protocol is officially released by the Minister of Health so that it becomes a common reference and there are no ministries and agencies that issue it independently but coordinated,” Wishnutama said.
The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has prepared a technical guideline both in the form of video and handbook that refers to the global standards. This handbook is a more detailed derivative of the protocol that has just signed by the Ministry of Health based so that it will be easier for the tourism and creative economy sector to implement its activities.
“This is very important because tourism is a business that depends on the trust of tourist, both domestic and international. Gaining trust or confidence is the key in accelerating the recovery, so it must be highly considered and implemented,” he said.
He stressed the message from President Joko Widodo that the protocol is implemented properly and not in a hurry.
“So that later when the tourism and creative economy sector is finally opened, it can be productive and remain safe from covid-19. That is a fundamental thing in the president’s direction,” he continued.
