Jakarta: The number of international tourist arrivals in Indonesia reached 7.83 million in the first semester of 2019, growing by 4.01 percent compared to the same period last year.
"Cumulatively, from January 2019 until June 2019, the number of international tourist arrivals in Indonesia was 7.83 million, growing by 4.01 percent compared to the same period last year," the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) head Suhariyanto told a press conference here on Thursday.
The number of foreign tourist arrivals in the country reached 1.45 million in June 2019. It rose by 9.94 percent compeared to June 2018.
On the same day, BPS announced that inflation remained under control in July 2019. Inflation was recorded at 0.31 percent month-to-month and 3.32 percent year-on-year.
"It was still below the annual inflation target of 3.5 percent," BPS head Suhariyanto told a press conference here on Thursday.
Last month, Core inflation was controlled on the back of anchored expectations. Core inflation stood at 0.33 percent month-to-month and 3.18 percent year-on-year.
Although recent food price developments continue to demand vigilance, volatile foods have been experiencing milder inflationary pressures. Volatile foods inflation stood at 0.89 percent month-to-month and 4.9 percent year-on-year.
In the meantime, Administered prices experienced deeper deflation last month. It was mainly influenced by further readjustments to airfares, coupled with lower intercity rates and rail fares, after the recent peak festive period.
