Ministry to Promote Indonesian Tourist Destinations in Saudi Arabia

Jakarta: The Tourism Ministry continues to strive for the target of 20 million foreign tourists by the end of 2019. 
 
One of the efforts to push the numbers are the sales call visits to Saudi Arabia, which will be held on October 9-14, 2019 in twi major cities with the largest population in Saudi Arabia, namely Riyadh and Jeddah. 
 
Through this event, the Tourism Ministry inistry together with the Indonesian tourism industry specializing in the Saudi Arabian market will meet with Saudi Arabian wholesalers and online travel agents (OTA) to promote Indonesia tourism destinations.

"This cooperation from the Indonesian Tourism Industry with wholesalers in Saudi Arabia is expected to increase the visit of international tourists from Saudi Arabia," the Tourism Ministry's website quoted Deputy Assistant of Marketing Development II Regional III, R Sigit Witjaksono, as saying.
 
Cooperation with stakeholders in Saudi Arabia will also be intensified by the Tourism Ministry. The destinations that will be promoted are the ones that suit the characteristics of the origin country. A total of eight destinations that will be offered to wholesalers in Saudi Arabia are: Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Jakarta-Bandung, Joglo Semar (Yogyakarta, Solo, and Semarang), Malang, Bali and Lombok.
 
"The high interest of Saudi Arabian tourists to visit Indonesia needs to be matched with the intensive promotion of tourist destinations in Saudi Arabia, especially new destinations. So far, many Saudi Arabian tourists are only familiar with Jakarta, Puncak, Bandung and Bali." Deputy of Marketing Development II, Nia Niscaya, was quoted as saying.
 
As a series of events, the Tourism Ministry will collaborate with the Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah in holding a press conference on October 9, 2019 at Jeddah Movenpick. The press conference aims to inform the public in Saudi Arabia about further promotional activities, namely the Wonderful Indonesia Week Festival in November 2019 in two cities where the Sales Call is being held.
