Jakarta: Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Wishnutama Kusubandio and Deputy Head of Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Angela Tanoesoedibjo directly observed the latest development of Borobudur super-priority destinations in Magelang, Central Java on Thursday, December 19, 2019.

The visit began with Nglinggo Tourism Village in Kulon Progo Regency, DI Yogyakarta, where they enjoyed a panoramic view of the tea garden and talked with creative economic actors, such as batik producers and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

"We will support the packaging because it is not the only quality that matters, but 'look' must also be considered," he said in a press release issued on Monday, December 23, 2019.

According to him, there are 16 creative economy sub-sectors that can be developed and became added values for visitors.

"Where there are tourist destinations, there is 'local wisdom.' That's where the creative economy, such as culinary, souvenirs, and photography, develops. It will make the community flourished," he explained.

During their visit to DeLoano Glamping, Wishnutama and Angela discussed with the Borobudur Authority team, Kulon Progo Regent Sutedjo, and several teams from the tourism service in Central Java.

"There are several challenges, such as the completion of the 50-hectare HPL status at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the 259 hectares of Borobudur Authority - Perhutani cooperation with the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, the provision of basic infrastructure with the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, international direct flights with the Ministry of Transportation, as well as the travel product pattern and the standardization of tourism businesses and HR with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy," said the Managing Director of the Borobudur Authority Indah Juanita.

Indah Juanita also presented the master plan of Borobudur Priority Destination in the form of villas and various supporting tourism facilities such as restaurants and others.

"Surely, we will help convey it to the relevant ministries. I will also meet with foreign airline officials who will also ask them to open flights to Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA)," said Wishnutama.

Finally, Wishnutama expected that the development of the Borobudur Super Priority Destination has its own unique value, which will make Borobudur be more easily promoted to local and international tourists.
